March 20th, 2017 – International Women’s Rights Day

POK values women’s know-how

International Women’s Day, also called “International Women’s Rights Day” in some countries such as France, is celebrated on March 8th. It is a day highlighting the struggle for women’s rights and in particular for the reduction of inequalities in relation to men.

Born out of the history of feminist struggles on the European and American continents, “International Women’s Rights Day” was made official in 1977 by the United Nations, which invited all the countries of the world to celebrate this day in favour of women’s rights. It is a day of events around the world and an opportunity to review the situation of women in society.

POK®, always concerned about the quality of life at work, never misses the opportunity to celebrate this day carrying a message of equality. Indeed, while women are under-represented in industry, at POK they represent 23% of the workforce in all professions combined. From the offices to the workshop but also in the Product development department. They are all highly appreciated for their rigour at work.

Within POK, all professions are available for women, including boilermaker. Although very physical, this job is not reserved for men and shows that women can occupy jobs often entrusted to men.

Since the arrival of Alexandra Grandpierre in 2013, the women of POK are celebrated on March 8. Each year, each of them receives a small gift. A custom reported from Germany. Alexandra Grandpierre reminds us that this small gesture is there so that no woman forgets: “that not so long ago, we had neither the right to vote nor even the right to set foot in a library.

As for the place of women within the company, Alexandra Grandpierre rightly says in an open letter: “The women who work for us are conscientious, rigorous, hard-working and intelligent. They have a lot of humour. They manage to juggle family life and work with style. We can count on each other. In short, in all objectivity, the women in society (…) are simply fabulous. ». A way of recognizing women’s endurance and great ability to work that are part of POK’s strengths and values.
