Product discovery

Since 1976, POK® has been designing firefighting equipment. In order to provide our customers and users with the best technical solutions, we listen to them and our product development department innovates daily to create products that will meet their demands.

One of the problems encountered by the Fire Brigade is to fight fire while protecting the nozzle holder simultaneously. Indeed, attacking products in ignition with a straight stream allows a quick extinguishing but the intense heat released by the fire forces the nozzle holder to stay at a distance, limiting the effect of the water stream. The solution is to combine a straight stream with a water screen. Combipok I & II are the modern solution to an old problem.

In fact, by incorporating the water screen into the nozzle, it is possible to protect the nozzle holder against radiant heat and at the same time induce fresh air cooling the nozzle holder environment. At the same time, the straight stream allows an optimal fire attack. This solution was first mass-produced in Germany 100 years ago.

Combipok I & II are very easy to use.  The water screen is switched on by pulling the operating ring for the Combipok I or turning the operating ring for the Combipok II. The screen can be stopped, just as simply, by performing the reverse movement. The water flow of the protective screen is 350 litres per minute at 6 bar.

These accessories, mounted on a hand nozzle, are available with different outlet to adapt to a wide range of products.

Find all our references in our online catalogue and if you wish to obtain more technical information or a quotation, you can get in touch with your distributor or your POK contact. We are at your disposal to answer all your requests.

Event

From October 22nd to 27th, 2018 took place in Sacramento, CA in the United States the 27th WC Firefighter Combat Challenge. During this event, fire brigades from all over the world competed in a 5-challenges race.

Throughout the year, fire soldiers have always faced many risky situations where their good physical condition is essential. This competition, founded in May 1991, was created to recall this. If the first edition counted only 5 American teams, the 27th edition welcomed teams from many nations: New Zealand, Germany, France. Registration for this event is increasing and the challenges are always interesting:

  • climbing a five-storey tower,
  • lifting,
  • chopping,
  • dragging hoses,
  • rescue of an 80 kg victim.

These events, in connection with the daily missions of the Fire Brigade, were timed in order to establish a classification. The major difficulty during these challenges is that they are performed in full gear. This did not prevent the participants from setting new records that you can find on the results page of the Firefighter Combat Challenge website.

POK® is happy to support events in line with the company’s values. POK is therefore eagerly awaiting the 2019 edition where we hope to see, once again, these men and women who, every day, are dedicated to the safety of individuals and goods in their respective countries. It is for them that we are constantly innovating to offer products that are always more efficient and guarantee their safety.

If you want to learn more about this competition or register for future editions, you can visit the Firefighter Combat Challenge website and watch one of the many presentation videos on YouTube.

And if you are also organising an event related to POK values, do not hesitate to contact our corporate communication department at the following address: nathalie.sejourne [at] pok-fire.com. We will study, with you, the possibilities of sponsorship.
