The anti-recoil elbow is used when the capacity of the hand nozzle exceeds 400 lpm at 6 bar. Its basic function is to reduce the effort weighing on the operator. The effort is reduced by about 15%. A fire nozzle of 500 lpm at 6 bar exerts a reaction force of 30 kg. Reducing this reaction to 25.5 kg is felt immediately, reducing fatigue and improving the hand nozzle operators safety. The DIN standard anti-recoil elbow has a handle to facilitate gripping. The handle may also be positioned on the shoulder of the operator. A hook on the bottom of the device allows to fix it on a ladder or a railing. The anti-recoil elbow DIN 14-368 is equipped with Storz B/75 couplings that can be easily replaced by 2.5” British Instantaneous couplings, 2.5” American NST-NH couplings, or DSP DN65 French couplings.
